Summary of event at Cal Poly
Due to prior obligations and commitments as the Nutrition Club Food Coordinator and T.A. for FSN 121, I, Agustin, was unable to attend the actual event; all my contributions were with the planning and leading up to the event. I was told that from a colleague in the planning committee that a summary of the event would be provided, but I have still to obtain it.
From what I know, it was a successful event that had many people stop by both of our booths (Hunger Awareness and Cal Fresh Cal Poly). Generating over $80 in money on top off donated non-perishable goods that went to the SLO food bank, and the awareness that was created is hard to determine; being that we had no pre- and post-test to assess the participants’ knowledge gained. Not that testing is what participants came to our tables for, but some measurement of education would be beneficial data. However, regardless of lack of data procured, education and bringing about awareness of food insecurity took place.
We also had a fundraiser at Blaze Pizza the Sunday before our event (5.28.17) where a portion of the bill went to the Food Bank.
